Go Canada! - Religion Causes More Harm than Good (poll)
Taking a cue from Ottawa: Advance! En Avant!
I posted
the other day on one of the anti-LGBTQ Christian yakkers who informed the world
that Canada may be under god's judgment because their prime minister participated
in a Pride parade. Well, it turns out that Canada just might not care.
An Ipsos poll showed that 51% of Canadians think religion does more harm than good.
Quebec is in the lead on this opinion with 62% sharing this opinion and 18%
inclined to lose respect for people when they discover they are religious.
There are
more numbers: the number of people who think religion should play a role in politics
is down from 24% twenty years ago to 34% in 2017. Only 24% of respondents think
religious people are better citizens, a figure that's down eight points from
2011.
Even before
this news, I loved Canada. It's nice to see the trends moving in this
direction. As Michael Stone on ProgressiveSecular Humanist put it, "Canada is winning."
